Cape Town, Part 2

I couldn't just write one post on Cape Town, it was too much fun and such an amazing place!

As we went to Cape Town a few months after the World Cup the hype of it all was still massive and it was so much fun being in that atmosphere. We had an opportunity to go to a match, USA vs South Africa and of course we went!

It was so great walking towards the stadium! There is a street right by it that is filled with restaurants so we went there for dinner and drinks....and so did the other 50,000 people that were attending the game! It was insane!
After a few drinkies we started to head towards the stadium - we had pretty awesome seats, right near the ground and had a great view! I am not usually one to be that excited about watching a whole football match but with all the vuvuzela's and people having a ball, it was so much fun!

Enough about football.....It is the wineries just outside of Cape Town that you want to hear about!! They were delicious and amazing!!
Micah, Ryan and I went to so many wineries while we were there...they are all very close together and so cheap that you can easily squeeze 5 wineries in 1 day!!
I couldn't tell you all of the wineries we went to because there were too many but each and everyone one of them were so beautiful and the wine was incredible...at one winery we even tried the best wine for 2009....and let me tell you....I wanted to drink the whole bottle!!

The Winery we were at (picture above) had wine and chocolate tasting, just what the doctor ordered! It was a beautiful day and the setting was amazing, we sat there and the waitress came out and said we could try 8 wines for $3!!!! It is so cheap that it just makes sense going to wineries if you live in Cape Town all the time!! ( I know I would! ha!)

After we finished off all the delicious wines at this winery (no we did not spit..we swallowed!) we drove on to the next winery and this is where we tried the best wine of 2009..I wish i took a photo of it or remembered its name but nope..I was too busy drinking! We decided to have some fun in the grape vines before we moved on to our next destination.....another winery!

I highly recommend if you go to South Africa go to the wine regions just outside of Cape Town, you will not regret as the country side is so lovely and the wine is even nicer!

As I told you in my previous post that i really wanted to see a shark while i was in South Africa I thought going to seal island would be the key....you think seal...you think shark trying to eat it so naturally I thought there would be some big nasty great whites hanging around. Ryan and I took a boat out to seal island..it is only about 1km off the shore and it is a big flat rock where thousands of seals hang out, sun bake and play in the water, very cute!

When the boat was near them they were jumping in the water and coming up near the boat, it was cute and I wish i paid them more attention but it was so rocky out there that i needed to sit down and stare at one spot...I am shocking when it comes to being out on the sea... I always think the worst. These little guys were great to watch but alas no shark :( It would have been the best thing in the world to see a big mumma jump out of the water!

Alright guys, It's that time again where i love you and leave you but before I leave you check out some amazeball photo's of my trip.

I saw the best table cloth on Table mountain!!

Cape Town, Part 1

Hi Folks! Hope you are all splendid :)

After our fun week in Jo'burg we were on our way to Cape Town, Ryan's parents live there and I also have a bunch of friends from there so we were super pumped to be going.
We arrived in The Cape with Ryan's mum picking us up (first time meeting the mum!) and as soon as we started heading in to Cape Town I knew I was going to love it! Oh my its so pretty!
Instead of going straight back to the house Louise took us on a little drive to I could see a bit of Cape Town, it was such a beautiful day and this is the first view i got!

We were up on a historical site (I can't remember what it was called...eeeeek) but to get your bearings, if you turned the corner to your left you would see Table Mountain.
After a bit of sightseeing we went and ate some delish food at a very pretty hotel/restaurant - I was so excited about eating food here...I am always excited about eating food but when it comes to a new country or city all I want to do is eat!

Ryan's Parents live in a little town called Fish Hoek - It is about 30 mins from the center of Cape Town, closer to Cape Point - which by the way is B E A utiful.

It was so nice being in this little town, being surrounded my mountains was lovely but wow it could get windy. Nearly everyday you could hear the Shark alarm going off on the beach, sometimes more than 3 times a day it would go off, it was so scary but each time I wanted to race down to the beach to see if I could spot one! On every beach they have shark flags and each colour means something different and if it is black with a white outline of a shark that means one has been spotted and the flags were always black and white! One day I will get my Shark sighting....one day.

A Highlight of Cape Town for me was catching up with my lovely friends, I hardly get to see them so to spend two months with them was amaze. Many nights we went out drinking...everything is so cheap!! especially because we were on the Pound.

They took me to some amazing places while I was with them, we went to so many wineries, a football match at the new stadium they built for the Soccer World Cup and to many amazing restaurants and bars.
One day Micah took me to Camps Bay for some cocktails and a walk along the beach, it is so beautiful there

If Cape Town wasn't so windy most of the time you could definitely call this paradise, the only problem is the sea water is always freeeezing and there are many sharks hanging around!!

One week Ryan's sister and her boyfriend came down from Jo'Burg for a little visit which was nice. Gareth is a huge fishing lover so one day we went with him to Cape Point to fish. It took about 30 mins to drive there, when you get to the national park you have to pay to get in (pretty expensive) but we got to see baboons, ostrich's and other funny little creatures! The baboons were very funny, the stories I heard from people, how they would just walk into your house and steal from the fridge!! haha.

We got to the fishing spot but had to walk down a huge cliff to get there, that was mighty scary but once we got down to this flat rock it was so beautiful!
There were a few other Fishermen there but apparently its a spot that not many people know about...fair enough too, the track to get to it would kill you if you took a wrong turn! I did not fish because i feel sorry for them..poor things being hooked. The others got into it though but mwahahahaha they did not catch anything!
Around the mountain from Ryan's house is a little town called Simon's Town, It is were the Navy people stay and huge ships are stationed there. Apart from it being a navy town it is also home to some stunning views! We went there one day and had a million oysters and a bottle of wine sitting in the sun and it was heaven! There is also a beach near there where you can hang out with penguins!! eeeee they were so cute!

So folks, that is all from me this week but once again I will leave you with some stunning Photo's that should make you want to go to South Africa!! Just do it...

South Africa - Jo'burg

Hi my chinas! I hope you are all Lekker :)

Last year when Ryan and I left England we decided to spend a couple of months in South Africa! I was so excited as I have always wanted to go there - Ryan is from there so he wasn't as pumped as me but he got to see his fam which is always nice!
We decided to spend a week in Jo'burg as that is where Ryan's sister (Sarah) lives, I was SO excited to be going to S.A!
We arrived at the airport and Sarah's bf picked us up - driving back to their house all i could judge of Jo'burg was it had huge freeways and all houses were in little safe complexes and each complex had guards and either electric fences or barbed wire (I was a little freaked out!)

One of the days we were in Jo'burg we went to a restaurant called Moyas. Moyas is an outdoors restaurant that serves traditional South African food - I couldn't wait to try different foods!

The waitresses were dressed in colourful robes and came around and offered to paint your face (not the whole thing like kids get) but nice little delicate flowers, they were really good at it too! Check out my flowers!

We had a delicious lunch, I met some of Ryan's mates which made me a bit nervous - you know - you gotta be yourself and make sure they like you!! But after a few drinks we all had some great laughs (apart from Ryan who had been out the night before until like 7am) and we all became besties! hehe.
I tried Springbok for the first time, it was really yummy - a mixture of pork and chicken i suppose. I did not eat this Springbok but in case you do not know what they look like here ya go:

Moyas came to an end and it was just a perfect day in Jo'burg - My favourite thing to do is sit in the sun, eating and drinking amazingness and speak with fun interesting people.

Now this next photo I am putting up is purely for a laugh...haha when I saw him I thought it was the best thing ever...he loved me giving him attention as well! We were walking across the park to get back to the cars and he was riding along and i had to stop him!

OK now to talk about my highlight of being in South Africa, I have dreamed about this for years and it finally came true, it was 5 minutes of bliss and I wish I could do it all of the time :(

PLAYING WITH BABY LIONS!!!!!! aka Lion Cubs

We got to go inside their enclosure for 5 minutes and play with them! oh it was so magical. They were soooo cute and i just wanted to squish them...I didn't because they were defiantly stronger than me and those claws could have ripped me into bits but oh i really wanted to! When we got into their enclosure they were sleeping which was a big bummer but they eventually woke!

oooo look at how cute they are! The white lion cub was so big, he is going to be a big boy when he is fully grown. Being around them was so amazing, I love cats and these guys were just giant cats and it was so much fun!

After our 5 minutes was up....it only felt like 1 minute :( we went around the rest of the park and got to drive through the Lion area, now this was cool - there was no barrier between us and the lions apart from our cars and it was so tempting to wind down the window to get a good photo. At one point the car behind us must have looked like their feeding car because 2 of the male lions (huge mo fo's!) were jumping all over it and the people inside were freaking out! i secretly wished it happened to us - haha yeah I'm weird like that. These white lions were amazing - apparently there aren't many left in the world which is mighty sad.

It was feeding time while we were in there, they were munching on the biggest limbs ever, they all had blood around their mouths which was a bit ewww.
Jo'burg was great fun and I loved all the people i met - but I could not wait to get to Capetown and see my friends that live there! Next week my post will be on the Cape so make sure you stay tuned! Now I will leave you with a photo of a Giraffe that got its foot stuck in a pot plant! hehe

Peace xx

England in May

Hi friends!

This year in May my dad and I went to England as my Grandpa died and we went to help out with everything and go to the funeral...but i'm not blogging today about this sad story, i'm going to blog about the three days me, my dad, my auntie and two cousins hired a boat and went up the Thames!

It was so much fun! Here is a map on the Thames and the orange arrow sort of shows you where we started and finished

We did not think the boat we hired was as big as it was....it was huge! We had many laughs the 3 nights we were on it..oh my stomach hurt after a while it was so funny, i wish i could tell you some of the stories but they were so 'you had to be there' stories. Steering the boat was an effort...you really had to get the hang of it and stay on the left side of the river, if you moved the wheel a little bit the whole boat would just go off course and it was so hard to line it back up

Now going through locks (locks are used for controlling the flow of water down the river)  was the WORST..omg....you had to jump off the boat, quickly tie it up so it doesnt float away, wait until the doors open to the lock and then untie the boat, steer it into the skinny lock, jump off the boat again to tie it up, wait until the doors close and then the water fills up so you are the same level as the other side of the river, wait until the other door opens, untie the boat, jump back on and steer through the door of the lock...my god it was a mission and there were SO MANY OF THEM.

We went through so many pretty little towns right on the water and so many huge houses, it was so nice to see things from the river.

We would be on the boat for most of the day - one day the sun even came out which was amaze! We would stop off in cute little villages and have pub lunches - so English of us! It was a perfect time for all of us to be together as a family as we don't get to spend that much time together as we live in different countries.

During the nights we would find somewhere to park the boat and find a pub for dinner - boating really took it out of us so we were always in bed early but not before we drank copious amounts of red wine and played monopoly! It was sooooo good catching up with this side of the fam again, can't wait to get back over there to see them and laugh until my belly hurts!
Here are some more photo's of what i saw from the boat - England is so beautiful and if you are planning on going there hire a boat and go along the Thames!

Peace and love xx
